Comfortable like Uggs in January

She said he was perfectly comfortable like Uggs in January. You know the super warm shoes that you can wear they aren't real fancy, but they are comfortable, and your toes are never cold. That was this new man that she was seeing. A brand new pair of Ugg Boots on a really cold snowy day.

She couldn't stop talking about how they shared the same goals. He was close to her age and he loved cooking in her North End Farmhouse kitchen. I sat and watched him slice vegetables while she stole glances at him and stopped to touch him every once and awhile. (like she had been saving up for these boots and she didn't want them to far from her sight.) And I can't help but smile at his with and charm but mostly at the warm way he smiled at her as she gushed about her sons, and her plans for a garden in the spring. Cheerfully he adds the vegetables to the broth and stirs the stew around. Tells a joke casually and she laughs the kind of laugh that you save for outdoor summer parties that twinkle with sunshine.

We never run out of things to say and the room is so warm and filled with love I can see what she's talking about. He is just like that perfect pair of sheepskin boots. You don't feel the weather when he is around. I treasure that dinner in her warm kitchen, and their smiles at each other. He was a great cook, excellent host, and entertainer. She is right definitely reliable not flashy in a trendy sort of way, but good looking, rugged, and warm. I am happy for my friend.
